IOC debuts new Youth Olympic Games visual identity.

From the IOC Press release:

It is just 200 days until Singapore opens its doors to 3,600 amazing young athletes for the first Youth Olympic Games! To celebrate, we have launched an exciting new YOG visual identity ‘YOG-DNA’ so check out the video to discover whether you have YOG-DNA, the ‘Spirit of the Youth Olympic Games’.

YOG-DNA is not a logo or a brand, but a label, and it represents the attitudes and freedom of young people worldwide. It is a stamp of approval for anything that has the ‘Spirit of the Youth Olympic Games.’

You will be seeing more YOG-DNA as we build up to Singapore 2010 and to Innsbruck 2012. Keep an eye out for what you think has YOG-DNA!

BBC launches new animated spots for their Vancouver Winter Olympics coverage!

Do you remember Monkey and his mates, Pigsy and Sandy who flashed across our screens back in the heady summer days of 2008 to herald the start of BBC Sport's Beijing Olympic coverage?

Well, inspired by that titles sequence, BBC Sport's Vancouver Winter Olympics coverage will feature the story of Akiak and his quest to find the missing head of Ilanaaq, a stack of rock in human form, which sits on the mountain above Whistler, where the skiiing and sliding events will take place.

The animation was created by Bafta-winning director Marc Craste.

ModNation Racers features in game Miga costume!

The upcoming PS3 game ModNation Racers features an in game costume of the 2010 Winter Olympic mascot Miga! Let's hope this is the begining of a trend and we see similar costumes show up as add-on content for LittleBigPlanet.

Sports Illustrated puts Stephen Colbert on cover

Among the highlights:

In November, devoted Colbert fans known as the Colbert Nation became the official primary sponsor of U.S. Speedskating. The team's largest annual cash sponsor, DSB Bank NV, left the team in the lurch after it declared bankruptcy in October.

With contributions from fans, more than $250,000 has been raised.

Colbert has made Olympics-related material a nearly nightly fixture on his show.Via.
