The London 2012 Mascots were unveiled today. Wenlock & Mandeville! I'm speechless. I thought for sure London would redeem themselves after the
debacle over their logo. I thought surely there is no way the Mascots would be as bad as the ugly logo they designed. I was right. They're not as bad... they're worse. How did these things get approved?! They look like characters from a student CG film from the '80s. The story they are pitching for the mascots are that they are made from drops of steel from the construction of the Olympic Stadium.
The mascots from the
Vancouver 2010 mascots were a stroke of genius. It's a shame to see things go so drastically downhill from there. Let's hope
Sochi 2012 can raise the bar again. (Maybe they can bring back
Misha!)
